Back in the 80’s, it was not uncommon to have your home heated with electric heat. There was a project in Nashua, NH that had Radiant electric panels in the ceiling that worked well, but could cost $1000.00 a month for heat. Over the past 20 years, Joyce Cooling & Heating Inc. has done several electric-to-gas conversions ever since natural gas was brought into the neighborhood. Because of the style of the homes, adding ductwork was not feasible due to the open concept style of architecture. In the past, we would simply install a high efficiency boiler with baseboard and called it a day. The homes had a couple of air conditioners cut into the walls, so cooling was provided but not very well.

Rick contacted us about doing a conversion since he just purchased one of the homes that still had electric heat. We reviewed his options about the boiler but he wanted a better, quieter, air conditioning option. Fortunately for him, he had an end unit that allowed us to install a Mitsubishi 2 zone Hyper Heat Ductless Heat Pump. In order to keep the Nashua condo association happy, we used the wall mounting kit to keep it away from the landscapers and above the snow line. This system would not be as efficient as the natural gas boiler, but it would give Rick twelve months of comfort covering both heating and air conditioning.

Give us a call and let us consult with you to determine if an electric-to-ductless heat pump or gas boiler might be right for your home. (833) 222-4667
